As you enter you are engulfed by complete darkness.
As your eyes adjust you see a faint glowing light in the distance. There is nothing else around you so you walk towards it. As the light comes into focus you realize that it is a memory from your past. (click: "memory from your past")[You get close enough to make out what is happening.]
You see yourself at a young age. You don't remember exactly but you were maybe 9 or 10 years old and it looks like you were in school. You come to remember that this was the day you turned in your big science project for Ms. Daniels' social studies class.
(click: "big science project")[You remember how much time you spent on that project and you did it all by yourself.]
The teacher was so impressed that you not only got an A+ on the assignment, you also got the First Place Ribbon in your entire class. You remember how proud of yourself you were when you did that. You didn't even need to do homework for a few weeks being on the Teacher's good side.

After the memory has ended you wander ahead through the darkness until you see another faint light in the distance. It is another memory.
This time you are a young adult. You are attending university with many honors and you graduated in the top of your class in high school. You are going into your sophomore year headstrong. You are popular with your colleagues, popular with your professors, popular with the ladies, and your family speaks of you with the highest regard.
But all the friends and girls you want do not get you through college. You find yourself studying less and less and you start to fail some exams. You did not give school the same amount of attention everyone else gave you.
You were forced to drop out of college at the end of that year.

You decide to go further into the dark void to see if there is anything good you can find from these memories. There is one more you find and you go towards it like a moth to a flame.
You are now gown and a full time employed man. You work at a Steel Mill in the town you grew up in. It's an easy job or the safest job, but you do a good job and take pride in it.
You were always on time and you always followed the safety measures. So much so that you were awarded the employee of the month in your division for the last 6 months of the two and a half years you've worked there.
But after winning so many awards your main desire turned into only wanting to see your face more on those little plaques.
You kept doing a good job and following protocol but wouldn't help check others if they were out of line so that you'd get a better review.
You even had multiple opportunities to prevent a fellow, reckless coworker from endangering himself. But you didn't care when he broke both of his legs in that fall. There was just one less person for you to compete against.

You are still a teenager and you work at a crappy fast food restaurant. You remember how much you hated that job, but your parents said they weren't going to buy stuff for you anymore so you'd have to work (click: "have to work")[to afford those games you want to get.]
At the time, even working 20-some hours a week with school was a pain, but you kept and saved every dollar your earned.
You even saved money by walking to work each day, but it always sucked because of all of the homeless people that hung around the streets you passed.
They always asked for handouts and money but you never gave any to them. You worked hard to earn the little money you had. Why waste it on bums?

You go further onwards to the seconds memory. Now you see yourself grown up a bit. You are still in high school but it's your senior year and you just turned 18.
Your still working at the same food joint but over the whole summer your parents made you save up to buy a crappy car. It took forever and cost nearly all of your earnings for months. You really just want to spend your money on games and stuff but your parent's are sick of it and want you to go to college.
Your friends all decided to buy lottery tickets from the gas station when they turned 18 and when you did it, you won $50 on a $5 scratch off.
Now every paycheck you go and spend a bunch of it on lottery tickets so you can afford your games. Even though you don't always win, it's always a thrill when you do.

You remember back to this time when you were married and had children to take care of.
But times were tough at your job and your wife refuses to work for a living. You find yourself spending more and more time at the Casino after work.
You don't tell her that you go there and you certainly don't tell her about the money. You seem to have some good luck when it comes to gambling as of late. You've been making some extra money on the side that only you know about.

That party was great. The highlight must have been your neighbor's wife. She was much more attractive than your wife and she kept flirting with you the whole night.

You swerve past the other cars around you to get next to the jerk driver still honking, screaming and flipping him off.

You were always somewhat active, at least you played sports when you were a kid. But you never really worried about your health or gaining weight. If anything, you made fun of the fat kids at your school.
But you stopped going out and getting exercise during your high school days. You began to spend more and more time either sitting on the computer or watching television and you always had a snack or soda on the side. You never went back to work out again like you wanted. After your marriage you just let yourself go. Now you are mostly bedridden and you need an oxygen tank to help you breathe.
